What: Asian Brush Calligraphy Exhibition Who: Cecilia Ling Where: Hsiang Yun Temple (6720 North Capital of Texas Highway, Austin, TX 78731) When: Feb. 3-17, 2008, Austin TX Cecilia Ling is a fine art photographer and calligrapher who has had 11 solo photography exhibitions in Texas. She will hold her first solo Asian Brush Calligraphy exhibition: Between the Lines, during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration from February 3rd to 17th, 2008 at the Hsiang Yun Temple. From a very young age, Cecilia has practiced calligraphy. She believes simplicity is the soul of calligraphy art, which is both a profound art form and a way to find inner peace. "People do not need to know Chinese, Japanese or Korean to enjoy the Asian brush calligraphy. It is a beautiful abstract line art that presents deep meaning through the Chinese Characters," Cecilia said. Her calligraphy art pieces are framed on hand-made papers from many countries around the world. These hand-made papers add a unique element to her calligraphy; the approach is quite different from traditional Asian calligraphy mounting techniques. |
